well gow 4 im happy but the new ps4k not so much sure for the ppl who still havent got it yet that would be good but for me and i just bought quite a few for my gaming zone not good. ill probably skip on this one. and wait for ps5
I think they want to stay relevant in VR market and this makes sure that experience is ~ pc like
No doubt about it, this year's E3 is turning out to be filled with quite a few surprises.
As for GoW4, I hope it's a complete reboot with deeper combat mechanics and proper camera control.
Santa Monica studios rival Naughty Dog in the tech department, and I'm sure their new/updated graphics engine will push some stellar visuals.
Then they should market it for VR when this becomes official since every rumor so far has been focusing on a '4K ready' console.
All this is basically segregating the user base and it sounds more like PS5 than a mid-generation refresh. If developers start targeting the 'PS4K' first then current PS4 versions will likely suffer to an extent. If PS4 remains the primary focus then PS4K wouldn't benefit from the upgraded hardware fully, not to mention Sony expects potential PS4K owners to invest in a 4K display as well now.
I think PS4K was too good a naming opportunity to miss out for gamers ..Also the name ps4K has been adopted by us lot, sony hasnt said anything yet. all of these are assumptions.
This might also be a move to out muscle and take the limelight from nintendo NX's release
Also the thing with this statement " PS4 but with considerable sacrifices made to performance. " is that it is worded in a wrong way to look at thing, imo. As this refers to games being downgraded or suffering on ps4, which isnt what might happen. I think the games ps4 is getting is going to remain the same or become better , but with ps4k they will have required textures to cope with higher resolution. This doesnt effect the ps4 in any way or form, but give users who own a 4k screen to experience that eye candy aswell...

I just can't see how bringing another console so soon is a good thing. This is gonna divide their customer base a lot and I'm pretty sure many people who can't afford another console will be pissed since the promise of buying a console, to them, will be lost.
It's pretty simple, on one hand you'll have people with the PS4K and on the other hand you will have the old PS4 users that can barely run games that the PS4K offers.
The other point is pretty straight forward too, if the console is going to go for 4k rendering natively on all games then I highly doubt it's going to be cheap. I don't think even the 980Ti can render some new stuff at 4k without some hitches here and there and that's a $600+ graphics card.
See this is what I dont agree with..I think alot of people have been left confused due to the wording used in that leak aswell..
You will have THE SAME GAME on both these consoles...But on PS4K it will have up scaled textures to match the resolution. No one is actually going to miss out on features. Its going to be more like if you have a HD screen, you will enjoy HD content, if you have a 4K screen you will have an option to enjoy content on that to max aswell.
People having the option is not a bad thing. No developer is going to ditch PS4, a console which has sold over 35 million.
2) Discrete gfx cards and a closed environment of a console are slightly different in this case, even if they have similar architecture- While a gfx card in a pc has to deal with windows memory management, background apps, etc ..a console's gfx card might not have to..
I think there are too many unknown factors to make a judgement on..I would rather wait and see what sony does and how they supports publishers.

See there are two things 1) Game engines and technology to render 4K stuff has not matured, optimized nor has been explored enough to know how much content can be pushed...this will of course get better with time...

That was not the point of the post..that is just a figure he pulled out of thin air.
The main point was that people who think ps4 is going to become insignificant or games wont have the same features or gameplay is going to hindered in anyway or even suddenly the devs will stop making games for it,
that wont be the case..
If you dont plan to own a 4K screen, there is no real need to upgrade. That is what I think will happen.
That's exactly what's going to happen though, lower framerate and lower res will happen to PS4 games once devs move onto PS4K dev kits. I never said devs are going to stop making games for it, the games that will be on it will just be considerably shittier compared to the PS4K version is what I'm saying.

They could very well feel cheated since they, not so long ago, had the most powerful console, but not anymore. I just feel like this could ruin Sony's fan base or something. Hope I'm wrong.

Well, I said "suffer to an extent". Not that the inferior version would be shit. But it just enforces my other point: the upgraded version might not be meaningful/significant enough to make the switch to PS4K as the extra horsepower will not be fully utilized on games running on both platforms. New comers will be getting the better deal if the price is right which won't sit well with the early adopters.
The analogy with PC version also does not work. Most console gamers are indifferent to the fact that PC can provide a better experience because its just not the ecosystem they want to adapt. But PS4K is another console, infact an upgraded version of what they already purchased, hoping to run games which will likely provide a superior experience on the upgraded console now.

so they are intentionally going to eff ps4 users to get onboard with ps4k ! like WTF. so far im seeing is 1080p and 30fps on ps4. dont care much about 60fps but that would be cool but intentionally not care if ps4 going the full potential and give ps4k the attention that's something to be bothered about

I dont think games have looked any better since 2019 onwards and they are performing worse and worse. Game developers have really dropped the ball.
