I have been using Samsung Galaxy S for a few months and now want something different.

I'm not trying to buy the smallest handset, but I want something a bit smaller for a change. This probably rules out any upgrade option as I don't think there is any handset with better specs in smaller size.

Second important factor for me is looks. I'm bored with shape of Galaxy S. There are too many phones from Samsung that look alike.

Currently I'm considering HTC Desire S and Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray. I know that this will be like a downgrade from Galaxy S i9000 but I just want something different for a while. I'm not a fan of flasing different roms and will most probably won't even root. Price wise SE Xperia Ray seems more attractive and I have heard good things about its screen (even though it's very small). Plus the really small size is attracting me towards it. On the other hand HTC Desire S has nice metallic build and Sense looks good.

Which one of these two would you guys recommend? (considering that Ray is around Rs.7,000 cheaper)
Is there any other option that I should rather consider? Android is first choice but not the only option.

My choice is Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray. Without a doubt!. Though maybe you wont like its shape. HTC is more desirable with its curved corners.

JJDoctor owns a Xperia Ray better to ask him on how good it works and its pros and cons
If you really want a change then I will prefer Xperia Arc or Arc S

Forget desire S as it wont be getting ICS and since you are not into rooting you will be stuck with gingerbread.

I would recommend xperia neo.

Xperia ray is the best "mini" phone but the neo has all the same specs with a bigger screen. The neo is the same size as desire S so shouldnt be a problem.

Xperia Ray is TOO SMALL for an Android phone.

Smaller Screen Size with higher PPI would make the display look good. But Small screen Size ..... meh. You gotta be kidding me. However 8MP Camera seems promising.

Though I like Xperia Neo V's design better. Since you want 'a bit' smaller sized ... its 3.7" display should fit the criteria.

Xperia neo V has an OK camera and video recording, the original neo is the best 3.7" phone and is on par with galaxy S in terms of features....well almost anyways.

I went to Hafeez Center after offie and bought Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray. I haven't used it for any significant amount of time, but so far I like it :)
